UP Maison Design was born from a single observation: the gap between trades was costing sellers weeks — and listings their first showing.
It started with a single apartment. A seller in the Plateau had three weeks before the listing went live. The cleaner was good, but couldn't repair the cracked tile. The handyman was good, but wouldn't paint. The painter was good, but didn't stage. Each trade did its part — and yet, by the second week, no one was accountable for the whole. The apartment went on the market half-ready. It sold, but for less than it should have.
That week showed us the real cost wasn't a line item — it was the absence of a single accountable team. The painter hadn't failed. The stager hadn't failed. The system had failed them. A studio that owns the entire chain — design, repair, paint, clean, stage — would remove that failure mode, and replace it with one schedule, one brief, one signature on the handover.
Three of us — a designer, a contractor, and a project lead — handled the brief, the work, and the staging ourselves. The listing sold above ask, in eight days.
What had been three phone numbers became one team. The renovation crew got its RBQ licence. The first full studio project went on the market in NDG.
The studio's process — walkthrough, design, scope, schedule, handover — became the working document for every project, at every price point. The signature in the corner stopped being a flourish; it became a contract.
From Westmount to Hochelaga, from a single condo to a triplex. The studio is small on purpose, and the work is what it has always been: one team, end to end.
"I started this studio because I had watched good properties go on the market half-ready, and good sellers wonder why. The answer was never the trades. It was the absence of a single person accountable for the whole. That is what this studio is — one person, one team, one signature, end to end."
